Meet this week’s INCREDIBLE spotlight, Alisa Verratti!! Alisa is not only my Big in my sorority, but is also a complete inspiration, as she started her own company (Make a Wave) in order to donate clothes and goods to children in foster care. What began as a small club at SJU has since morphed and grown into a legal non-profit corporation, all the while being led by Alisa, who manages to juggle being president of the company, a student at SJU, and an awesome person all at the same time. Here’s what she has to say about her charity work, what it took for it to become legal, and her tendency to be the brightest face on campus:

Hometown: Cherry Hill, NJ

Major: English

Why did you want to start Make a Wave? I wanted to start it because I felt as though children in foster care deserve a chance at hope. Sometimes the system is in favor of them and sometimes it isn’t; I wanted to give those kids something to count on.

What was/ still is the hardest part of running your own company? The hardest part right now is making it into a legal corporation, but it will be extremely worth it!! I am extremely excited to have it legalized and trademarked. It will allow us to do so much more and open up so many doors of opportunity in order to help kids in foster care.

How can people donate/ get involved? People can donate by reaching out to us in our social media pages or by email!!

Favorite food? Cheese.

What can’t you live without? A Ticonderoga pencil and music.
