This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SJU chapter.

This week I had a chance to sit down with senior A.J. Simon, sometimes known as Artur Jalopy or Dad by his friends.

Hometown: Medford, NJ

Major: Finance and Sports Marketing

Relationship Status: Single

HC: Why did you pick St. Joe’s?

AJ: Honestly, community and the campus feel on Admitted Students Day. I spent a lot of time on what used to be Finnessey (which is now Sweeney) Field for lacrosse but I had never explored other parts of campus until then. I felt really comofrtable and felt like this was a place where I could be myself.

HC: How are you involved on campus?

AJ: I’m an APEX Coordinator.

HC: Can you tell us a little bit about your experience with APEX?

AJ: I loved the experience, and its a program I’ve been a part of since Freshman year and each year brings something completely different. My freshman year I took part in PSIP and that made me comfortable with the campus and the community, but APEX is what really made this palce feel like home and allo me to recognize the impact I could have as a student. Sophomore year I built upon that feeling and became a leader my junior and senior year. Being a leader was such a rewarding experience and allowed me to grow and appreciate the community of individuals that make up St. Joe’s.

HC: What are a few things on your bucket list?

AJ: I have a whole list I can show you, but here are a few things: Northern Lights, deep sea fishing, ride a gondola in Venice, learn an instrument, bike across America, adopt a dog, run with the bulls, ride a bull. There’s so much more on my list!

HC: Favorite place to eat around St. Joe’s?

AJ: Sketch Burger in Fishtown because you get to draw while you wait for your burger, which is always amazing.

HC: Favorite ice cream flavor?

AJ: Ben and Jerry’s Tonight Dough.

HC: What’s one thing you can’t live without?

AJ: Costco chocolate fudge cake

HC: Describe yourself in three words.

AJ: Quirky, particular, caring.

HC: What’s oen thing most people don’t know about you?

AJ: I have a lot of t-shirts. I don’t like getting rid of them- I feel like they’re memories.

That’s all for now!

HCXO,

Paige
