Things College Students Do That Make Their Parents Mad

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Siena chapter.

We all hope to escape the wrath of angry parents when we moved away to college. However, even if you do not live with your parents, there are still plenty of ways to aggravate them. These are just a few things that will not fail to disappoint your parents:

1. As a college student, one of the first mistakes you make is not calling your parents. They went from seeing you every day to hearing from you once a week. That might make them not only worried but angry.

2. When you do call your parents, they might point out the provocative clothing that your little sister showed them on your latest Instagram post. They knew you went out and partied, but they didn’t think it was like you to wear such intriguing clothing. Then you might tell them at least you are not the one who drank too much and had to go to the hospital to get your stomach pumped.

3. Your parents then might cut you some slack on your skimpy outfits, until you do actually drink too much and have to get transported to the hospital to get your stomach pumped. This might infuriate them as you are supposed to be at school to learn calculus and biology, and not how much alcohol you can ingest until you vomit.

4. Your parents then might wonder if you spend all of your money on alcohol, or if you budget yourself so you can spend it on more important things. But, you wouldn’t know anymore because it turns out you spent all of your money.

5. This might cause you to ask your parents for money. They will probably get mad as tuition, room and board are already expensive enough, and tell you that you should get a job like the rest of the world.

6. But, the only thing worse than spending all of your money is wasting it. If you fail out of school, you will be wasting a lot of money.

Moral of the story is to have your priorities straight. It is ok to have fun on the weekends once in a while but you are at an institution to earn a degree. Your parents still might get mad at you once in a while, but they are only looking out for your best interests.
