A Reaction to Halsey’s New Song

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Siena chapter.

In Boston, MA on August 12, 2016 the Badlands concert became this insane spiritual experience for me.

If you’re a Halsey fan like me, you’re counting down the days until her new album ‘Hopeless Fountain Kingdom’ drops June 2nd.

But on April 4th she released a single from the album titled ‘Now or Never’. If you haven’t watched it yet check it out below!!!

Halsey’s work always has these complex stories behind them. For ‘Badlands’ it was this post-apocalyptic society in the desert that’s inescapable. Halsey has revealed that ‘Hopeless Fountain Kingdom’ is this about two people born into this pugatory state between Heaven and Hell that their now trapped in. This song is about two starcrossed lovers that are doomed from the beginning in this pugatory state. Halsey and Sing J Lee did a wonderful job directing the captivating music video full of emotion, doom, and new beginnings by the end. Going into this new album fans are warned that it is much different than her debut ‘Badlands’.

Halsey has a uniqueness about her from her hair, ideas, and music. I’m exicited to see what ‘Hopeless Fountain Kingdom’ has to offer.
