In October We Wear Pink: Why You Should Get a Pink Hair Extension

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Siena chapter.

As collegiettes, we have all been affected by breast cancer in some way. This is especially important now, as October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

At Siena, we’re all about raising funds and awareness for these kind of important causes. That’s why next week the Franciscan Center for Service and Advocacy, in conjunction with Pink Hair for Hope, is sponsoring an event where you can get your very own pink hair extension.

Still not convinced? Here are some reasons why you should go get yours next week.

  1. About 1 in every 8 women in the United States will develop breast cancer during her lifetime. This could be a friend, a family member, yourself, or any of the other wonderful women in your life!
  2. Breast cancer is on the rise for men as well. Not only will the women in your life be affected, there are new cases of men with breast cancer appearing. It really is an issue that spans the gender divide.

  3. They’re only $10. We get it–the broke college girl stereotype is so true. For a cause this important, though, we can all skip a trip to Starbucks to save a little cash. A small sacrifice on your part can help fund breast cancer research and do a ton of good in the world.

  4. They’re so cute! A splash of pink in your hair this fall says that you’re all about breast cancer awareness. It’s also a great way to brighten up campus as the days start getting darker and shorter!

As you can see, there’s really no reason to not get a pink hair extension. Make sure that you stop by the SSU at one of the times listed below to get your own and help the cause!

Pink Hair for Hope will be on campus in the SSU Atrium:

  • Monday, October 6th during Free Period

  • Tuesday, October 7th from 4:00-6:00

  • Wednesday, October 8th during Free Period

  • Thursday, October 9th from 4:00-6:00
