Why You Don’t Need a BAE This Valentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SFU chapter.

I know Valentine’s Day can sound like the worst thing to a single girl…nobody to buy you one of those giant boxes of chocolates, sappy rom-coms on TV all month, and WAY too much PDA in the school hallways, but don’t worry if you’re without a BAE this February. Make Valentine’s Day a day about YOU! Valentine’s Day is supposed to be a day about love, so don’t think you have to be in a relationship to celebrate it, here are some of the ways you can show love this February 14th:

Spend the Day Pampering Yourself!

If you’re feeling left out this Valentine’s Day, why not have the most amazing at-home spa night alone. Draw yourself a nice, relaxing bubble bath, rejuvenate your face with a refreshing face mask (see below for an easy DIY recipe), and treat yourself with a box of your favourite chocolates or candy. No need to worry about having to fight with a S/O for the remote, turn on your favourite movie, grab a buttery bowl of popcorn, and relax the night away.

DIY Hydrating Avocado Face Mask:

  • 1/2 ripe avocado

  • 1 teaspoon plain organic yogurt

  • 1 teaspoon of honey

No Need to Stress over the Perfect V-Day Date with a S/O!

Honestly, Valentine’s Day can get stressful when it comes to finding the best gifts to spoil your BAE, so consider yourself lucky! And who says you can’t spoil yourself with a Valentine’s Day gift? Treat yourself to a fancy dinner, a night on the town, or that luxurious gift that you’ve been lusting after because YOU deserve it!

Throw Your Own “Galentine’s Day” Party with Your Besties!

If you don’t want to be lonely this February 14th, why not gather your best gal pals and celebrate the evening together? This is the perfect time to get together with the people you love, so you might as well have your squad with you to show them how much they mean to you. Gather around the TV with some wine, and indulge in your favourite sweets all night.
