How Dogs Can Instantly Make Your Life Better

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SFU chapter.

Feeling down? Do you ever feel lonely or not loved? Get a dog! If you have ever taken care of an animal, you have experienced the immense excitement and affection that they provide you with. There are numerous benefits that come along with owning a dog.

1. Cardiovascular Health and Exercise

It is essential to take your dogs outside for either a walk, run, or to simply just enjoy the fresh air. This almost forces your body to get some type of exercise. Walking your dog has the ability for people to be more active and even possibly lead them to lose weight in the long run!

2. Helps With Stress and Depression

When all your friends are busy and you need some company, you can always rely on your dog. They are just another best friend, except they live with you. Dogs are sensitive to our emotions, and understand our actions and voice tones, so they are able to grab a sense of our moods. Snuggling up with a furry dog has the ability to instantly bring people who are down in a good mood!

3. Meeting New People

When you take your dog for a walk to the dog park, it not only gives your dog a chance to meet new friends, but you too! It you’re feeling lonely, you can make small talk with other dog owners, and as a plus, you can meet other cute dogs as well. This gives you a chance to socialize with people who you’d never think of connecting with in the first place, which can create more happiness in your life!
