VibeCulture: Taking the Music Industry by Storm

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SFA chapter.

Everybody loves a good on-the-rise story. Especially when that story includes effort, hard-work, laughter, and even conquered frustrations. To me personally, music is a movement. It’s a sound, a beat, and a rhythm that reverberates within our rib cages and can be felt in our spines. Music is the kind of outward expression that needs no introduction, but only ears to be heard and a heart to be felt. To produce music is to use words that have the power to unify crowds.

I had the wonderful opportunity to speak with two of the many individuals who represent VibeCulture, or VibeCult, for short. Corey Nixon (left) and Aaron Binder (right) gave me a bit of insight into the world of music and what VibeCult meant to them. I asked Aaron what music was to him: If it was just something that anyone could do, or if the only cool thing about getting into the music industry was the payload. He smiled and said, “Music is everything. Music is soul and passion. It has nothing to do with the money, now if you get paid then you get paid, but the real artists are all about letting what they have to say be heard in order to give a piece of their soul to the crowd.”

I then asked Corey what VibeCult meant to him, and he responded with, “To me, Vibe Culture means freedom of expression. It’s an avenue for me to pursue all of my interests and blend them into something that I can present to others as one entity. As human beings we weren’t just given one talent or one interest to be confined to for the rest of our lives.”

Corey followed that statement up with one that ended on a powerful note, “What defines us as individuals is all of the interests we choose to take in, and that’s what I wanted to do with my music. Whether it be to be influences from jazz, RnB, anime, sitcoms…anything.”

The movement of Vibe Culture has been predominantly sweeping through Dallas, Texas. Venues all over the city welcome this music brand since they bring nothing but good times and hyped fans. The level of entertainment that these guys and their crew bring is nothing shy of amazing. You literally can’t help but dance and sing along with them, and if you ask me, these young men have earned their name. Their vibe is absolutely contagious.
