Our Founder

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SFA chapter.

We had a chance to catch up with Jessika Davidson, founder of the HerCampus SFA branch, to give an insight of why she wanted to bring HerCampus to SFA!

The President/Editor-In-Chief of the chapter is responsible for all of the content on the My Campus page. Each My Campus page has 7 regular features on the pink menu bar: News, Blog, Celebrity, Cutie, Photo, Poll, and an Event.

Why did you start a HerCampus branch for SFA?

I really thought Her Campus was a refreshing way to approach journalism. And we really don’t have any outlets for students who want to be entertainment/lifestyle writers and bloggers so I figured it was no time like the present to start it.

What did you want to accomplish for yourself and the site?

I really wanted Her Campus to be the go-to site for fun stuff going on the campus. I also wanted to gain experience writing.

What was the hardest part?

The hardest part was managing a team. I would gain and lose writers every week! I also was taking 7 classes while managing it and that was horrible.

What did you like the most?

I liked being able to meet new people, being able to write and just in general promote SFA.

How will you incorporate what you learned/experienced from HerCampus SFA in your career?

HerCampus definitely opened me up to Social Media Management and Digital Content Management as a career. I never considered it before HerCampus.

What are you thought/hopes for the future of HerCampus SFA?

I really hope HerCampus grows, so a couple of years from now, when im at work and want to look back on my college years, I can check out HerCampus and see it thriving. That would be dope.
