Finals are crazy stressful, which means it’s really important to take breaks to do fun things.  I’m super into Christmas decorations, and I don’t let living in a dorm stop me from getting my festive on.  Here are some quick tips for getting your dorm dressed for the holidays.

  1. Do your door!

Fun dorm room door decorations are a great way to show your holiday spirit. The one pictured is super elaborate, but pinterest has a billion ideas so you can pick one that matches your craftiness level.

2.Make it Scent-Sational

Smell is the strongest trigger for memory, so a great way to get yourself in the holiday spirit is to get a scent diffuser or air freshener that reminds you of Christmas. For me, it’s the smell of pine, but some people associate the holidays with baking cookies or cinnamon.

3. O (mini) Christmas Tree!

Most dorms don’t have enough space for a full sized tree, but a little one is enough to brighten up any room and add a little holiday cheer! There are some available on amazon for fifteen dollars!

4. Light It Up!

Christmas lights are great for brightening up a space and adding a little color.Tis’ the season for both these things, so grab a strand and put them over your door or around the shelves.Or be ambitious and put them on the ceiling like this!

5. Let It Snow!

There are so many cute snowflake DIY’s out there, even if you aren’t into cutting them out of paper.Stringing cotton balls together and hanging them from the ceiling gives a really cool snow effect for super cheap.

6. Instant Christmas, Just Add Wreath!

Grab a simple wreath to hang on your door, just to add a little color, and to remind you that Christmas is almost here every time you step inside. Look, you can make one out of solo cups!

I hope I inspire you to deck your residence halls.  Happy Holidays and good luck on your finals!
