Use Men’s Deodorant Proudly

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Seton Hall chapter.

Even the most refined ladies get a little sweaty now and then, but eight dollars for a small stick of deodorant? No way, Jose.  We’ll let you in on a little secret…Old Spice, Degree, Speedstick…all found in the men’s section of the deodorant isle.

“But I’ll smell like a boy!” You may say.  But, let’s be honest here, who really smells our armpits?  We can’t even smell our own armpits most of the time, unless it’s a hot day walking back from the gym. (Heh) At this point in our lives, is smell a bigger issue than blocking sweat before a major presentation or making sure our pit-stains aren’t too bad after a hardcore gym sesh?  Spritz on a little perfume and you’re good to go.

Honestly, the number one reason we LOVE men’s deodorant is because of the significantly lower price. Men’s deodorant can be as protective as some of Dove and Suave’s clinical brands, in our experience, and it’s about five dollars less.  Not only that, but it lasts longer.  On a college student’s budget, five dollars can make a big difference.

Some of our favorite sticks are Old Spice Fiji, Old Spice Foxhound, Degree Extreme Blast, and Degree Cool Rush.  Each of them are no more than four dollars and block perspiration with the same intensity as a clinical protection brand.  An added bonus is the fact that you may [accidentally or not, we won’t tell] choose the same deodorant as your boyfriend; an extra way to romantically bond with babe!

If you’re still stuck on the scent thing, I suggest you compare some of the Old Spice scents to the Dove scents, some of the Old Spice Scents such as Wolfthorn and Foxhound smell very similar to the “girly” scents that Dove creates.  Every time a manly Degree or Old Spice commercial comes on TV, our manly armpits get a good laugh.

Hey there party people! My name is Sam and I am a double major in Art History and Journalism. Odd mix? Well I am an odd person ;). I have many, many passions in life; some of which include sweet corn, Vincent van Gogh, sugar, my relationship (corny whatever), the stage, writing, squatting, party pants, and The Office. If you put something in front of me, I'll probably be passionate about it. Well, that's me! Yay! Wahoo! Yee haw!
