Ten Reasons Why: Flowers are an amazing present!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Seton Hall chapter.

Like most girls I am a sucker for flowers (gerbera daisies, tulips…rarely roses). I was the little girl that wanted to open a flower shop when I got older just because. With fresh flowers sitting nearby and spring underway, it seems appropriate to appreciate flowers in a top-ten list. Whether you’ve got a boyfriend, parent, or best friend who doesn’t know what to buy you or just needs to cheer you up, flowers are always an amazing option. Here are ten reasons why you are always allowed to ask for a beautiful bouquet!

1. They smell nice. Remember that saying “Stop to smell the roses?” Yeah, they weren’t kidding. Stop and smell all the flowers because they are guaranteed to make you smile.
2. They make great gifts. Just today I stopped at the florist to pick my mom up some Easter flowers. Think sisters, moms, boyfriend’s mom, friends, aunts, etc.
3. They also make last-minute gifts. There are florists all over the place and they are just a simple stop away from having that birthday gift you forgot!
4. They are cheap! The flowers I grabbed for my mom today, just $10. Ten dollars bought me a gorgeous bouquet so this is one of those gifts that get you more bang for your buck.
5. There are basically a never-ending amount of types. Flowers come and go like seasons so this spring be on the lookout of daisies, hydrangeas, tulips and roses!
6. Flowers are natural. And while that sounds like a silly reason, sometimes that is all you need…think about it.
7. They are like instantaneous happiness held together by a ribbon. In high school I used to stop by my local florist to pick up a daisy or two for my room. Having them around just made everything better and much happier.
8. They have meaning…if you are into that. If you take the time to Google it, flowers have different meanings. Roses themselves have a different meaning for every color! Look it up!
9. They mean someone was thinking of us. Getting flowers means you crossed that persons mind. My favorite thing in New York City is the street corner florists. I enjoy seeing someone walking with flowers because I know they are going to make someone’s day.
10. They are low-maintenance. Once you get them…you leave them and just enjoy them!
