Recycle, Reuse, Re-WEAR

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Seton Hall chapter.

Recycle, Reuse, Re-WEAR

Re-wearing your own clothing not only saves your bank account from those, “I need something new!!” freak-outs, but it also shows how resourceful you can be!

Here are 5 ways to re-wear items in your closet!

1. Flannels

Flannel shirts are a classic; they are a must in every girls’ closet! Typically, we wear these in the Fall with boots and jeans and then put them away when the weather starts to get warm out…BAD IDEA! Add an edgy vibe to your white tank top and denim shorts in the summer by tying it around your waist!

2. Is that a……T-Shirt?

It’s no lie, we all have more t-shirts in our closet than any other article of clothing. Our          problem is that we don’t wear these on a regular basis, for obvious reasons! We’re not trying to look like a workout junkie all the time! Take some of your oversized t-shirts and cut off the sleeves! Cut out a cute neckline and make a casual little sundress! You can take a cheesy tie dye shirt into a Coachella chic outfit!

  3. Growth Spurt!

It happens in the 6th grade…. You go from 5 feet tall to 5’6 in three months. (At least I did!) Take your jeans that no longer are long enough (pet peeve) and cut them! Cutoffs are a classic and make some of the cutest outfits! Create denim shorts, capris, or even use the denim to make something original! Remember: anything denim is a classic!!

  4. Cropped

Take that long tank top you’re used to working out in and bring out the scissors! Cut the tank top into a length you find comfortable in and make your own crop top! This technique can be used with anything, really. Cut that old, thin, sweater and make a great little cropped cover up for a beach day!

5. Fringe…It’s back in style???

Grab whatever shirt, skirt, purse, or even jeans you don’t wear anymore! Cut the sleeves, pant-legs, or straps to make your outfit have a Boho vibe! Fringe is what we see all of the celebrities wearing now, and although we might think, “Of course they can pull it off! They’re famous!” We promise, you can pull off this flower child look too!

Hello all, my name is Courtney Jenney and I am one of the writers for the Seton Hall Her Campus. I am a Journalism and Public Relations major studying as a full time student at Seton Hall University. I consider myself a lover of all things beautiful; fashion, well-being, beauty, health, art, travel, and music. I was born and raised on Cape Cod in Massachusetts; home to beautiful beach views and royal history. My home is an hour south of Boston; which is why I have a love for all of the New England/Boston sports teams. As passionate for writing as I am, I am striving to entertain others with my writing and provide lively topics for other students around campus! Cheers to the future! XO
