Campus Celeb-D’onna Woolfolk

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Seton Hall chapter.

Year: Senior

Major: Public Relations

Hometown: Brooklyn, NY

When it comes to the movers and shakers in Greek-dom on Seton Hall’s campus, it’s hard to overlook the oh so pretty president of the Rho Upsilon chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha D’onna Woolfolk. When D’onna isn’t serving her chapter she’s heading the PR Committee of the senior class, interning at Viacom or mentoring young girls through African Culture Organization (ACO). The ever-busy boss lady took some time out of her demanding schedule to sit down with us and chat.

(Her Campus): So what motivated you to get involved in Greek life, specifically AKA?

(D’onna Woolfolk): “Greek life is something I’ve always known about and wanted to be apart of. But you can’t just pick any organization, it has to be one with like minded people and aligns with your values.  Giving back is something I like to do and one of AKA’s mission’s is to be a service to all mankind, so I guess you could say AKA and I were a match made in heaven. Plus I always look good in pink and green.”

(HC): I can see that you’re really passionate about your org, but taking a step into leadership is a big step. What inspired to take that next step?

(DW): “My mother inspired me to step up and take a leadership role in my org. Watching her be a single parent and still put in that extra work to lead others, really encouraged me to be involved on my campus and leave my mark.”

(HC): Your life can’t be all work and no play though, what do you do to relax?

(DW): (laughs) “What do I do to relax? Well I’m really into crafts and DIY. I paint recreationally and like work with my hands. I’m also interested in Buddhism and try to apply some of its values, meditation and yoga into my daily life. Talking to my friends and a cocktail here and there doesn’t hurt either.”

(HC): How do you balance your work life and personal life with such high demands?

(DW): “I’ll be honest, I still haven’t found a perfect balance. I do try to match everything I do academically and extracurricular activities with something relaxing, but it’s still a work in progress.”

(HC): What do you want your legacy to be here at Seton Hall after you graduate?

(DW): “I want to be a young woman who showed nothing but progression. I’m not perfect, but I’ve always wanted to one up myself each year. I want to be the girl who always did what she could and continually strived to be better.”
