The Bullet (Journal) That Saved My Life!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Seton Hall chapter.

Starting in middle school, planners have been my ish. The satisfaction of crossing off chores, errands, and homework really did me in for the day. Not only did it satisfy my inner neat freak, but it has also been keeping me on track with all the work I have to do. But when freshman year of high school came along and I realized they don’t give out school planners for free anymore, my life actually fell to shambles. I never knew what was due and when it was due, and never even knew what day it was. I discovered bullet journaling years ago, but never got around to it because it seemed so intimidating. But I recently started bullet journaling after a four-year hiatus from planning, the second semester of my freshman year of college.

First, a bullet journal is basically your own customized planner. The basic bullet journal layout includes a monthly layout and a daily layout, with different types of bullets to indicate the type of errand. However, to fit my own personality, I made my layout a little different.

I started the whole journal off with something a little inspiring to keep me going for the whole year.

After the first two pages, the actual planning began. I start every month with two pages. The left side is of a quote I want to follow for the month, and the right side is a cute design.

The next page after each cover page for each month is a monthly spread. Each monthly spread includes trackers for my mood, my skin care routine, my workouts, and more.

You can always do more and do less depending on your preferences. Bullet journaling helped me get my life and school routine back on track and I bet it can help you too!
