Mocktails and Mardi GrasBy February 28, 2012 - 11:35pm Mardi Gras, a day of festivities and fun, swept through San Diego State University with a bang. This ritual, which really took off in the United States in the early 17th century, is a day of eating vast amounts of fatty, delicious foods while celebrating with family and friends on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday. This allows for one night of pure joy and carelessness before beginning the season of Lent the following day, where people choose to give up certain unhealthy foods or activities in order to focus more on the things that really matter. Tenzin Gyasto: From A to Z on the History of the Dali LamaBy February 28, 2012 - 8:37pm The Dalai Lama is comin’ to town! His holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, born as Tenzin Gyasto, is scheduled to grace SDSU with a visit. I personally am ecstatic about this rare opportunity, but after asking around, I realized that many people are clueless about the Tibetan spiritual leader, even mixing him up with the overly operated country star, Dolly Parton. Vagina LoveBy February 13, 2012 - 11:15pm “We love vaginas! Do you love vaginas! Come, love your vagina!!!” Last week the main attraction on Campanile was a little pink and black booth crowded with men and women shouting at passer-byers about their vaginas, passing out flyers, and selling shirts to anyone who stopped to approach them. All under the name of what cause exactly? Well technically V-Day SDSU, but more importantly they were advertising the upcoming showing of the Vagina Monologues they were holding. READ MORE |

On a Budget: A College Girl's Guide to ShoppingBy February 13, 2012 - 10:55pm Shopping on a college budget can prove to be a difficult task for any girl. With all of the themed parties, formals, casual nights out, and campus events continuously going on at SDSU, it can be hard to find an affordable outfit that will “wow” everyone. Besides borrowing and swapping clothes with friends, the next best thing a college girl can do is to discover the hidden treasures of San Diego. The Real Outcomes of Your New Year's ResolutionsBy February 7, 2012 - 12:00am The first month of the year is officially over and done with. Unfortunately, for most of us that means so are our New Year's resolutions. I know the moment the clock struck midnight you had all you’re resolutions perfectly planned out. Some of you may have even written them down and taped them to your mirror or fridge because you’re just that committed. Then the initial New Year euphoria wore off, and that list of things you have yet to accomplish is now watching you with a look of smug criticism equivalent to that of your best frenemy. You had a really good start, you reason, but things came up, you got busy, etc. You gave it your very best, you lie, knowing perfectly well that your resolutions went something like this.... |

Living SituationsBy February 7, 2012 - 12:00am As a freshman, the move from home to the dorms was one of the biggest changes I’d ever experienced. Now, as we head into our second semester, we’ve all begun to realize that it’s time to start it all over again. That’s right, ladies. Even though second semester has just started back up, it’s already time to think about next year’s living arrangements. As you may have noticed, San Diego State’s got quite a few students, and while there are loads of affordable housing in the area, it’s filling up pretty fast. The time to start thinking about where you’ll live and what your situation will be come next year is now, and I’m here to give you a few pointers on how to do that. READ MORE... |
