Dear President Trump,

I tried to support you. I tried to be an American citizen and welcome you with open arms to prove yourself to us. But after the horrors that I have seen rip through this country after only a week, I can in no way support you anymore.

You are not my president. I refuse to support someone who thinks that it is okay to rip families apart. I refuse to support someone whose goal is to rip my rights as a woman away from me. I refuse to support someone who does not acknowledge that racism, sexism, and homophobia are alive in this country.

What I cannot possibly understand is how you think what you’re doing is okay. It is not constitutional, and it sure as h*ll isn’t American. Do you not realize that this country was built on immigrants? You come from a family of immigrants, Mr. President. Without their sacrifice, without the sacrifice of millions of others, this country would not be possible.

As a granddaughter of immigrants and as a woman of color, what you are doing to other people just like me makes me sick. It makes me angry. It makes me hurt. But it empowers me. It makes me want to fight like h*ll to make sure that innocent people who need this country’s help can arrive safely. It makes me want to fight for the right of a woman to control her own body and her decisions.

So keep doing what you’re doing Mr. President, because you’re not going to stop me. Not now, not ever. I will do my very best to make sure that America does become great again, but not in the way that you think it should be done.

Sincerely,

A Nasty Woman
