Caroline “Beanie” Cerf

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SCU chapter.

Caroline —better known as “Beanie”— is a Sophomore Political Science and Communications double major, with a minor in Retail Studies. She is the Vice President of marketing for SCU’s Women in Business, a member of Alpha Phi, and the Poli-Sci Honor Society. Aside from being busy, this year has been particularly exciting for Caroline: she recently started her own cleaning service business—Cleaning Carol.

I got to sit down with the bubbly Midwesterner to talk about her cleaning services. You’ll see it’s easy to tell she is hard working, nurturing, and sweet (with a dash of sass).

Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?

I have been described as the “perfect housewife,” but I will be no one’s housewife! I will cook and clean because I want to, not because I have to. I look up to my mom who isn’t just a housewife; she has a very successful career of her own, so one-day I want to be a top executive at a retail company.

What motivated you to start Cleaning Carol?

I’m a people-person, so I wanted something where I could meet new people. I needed a job that was flexible and something that would help me de-stress—cleaning has always been fun for me. One of my favorite Christmas memories was getting a vacuum back in second grade. My friends sometimes call me “Mom,” because I like to clean, cook, and fold laundry.

What makes Cleaning Carol special?

I bring all of my own cleaning products, and I have pretty much every Clorox product there is. My mom got me a new fancy vacuum (a Shark) this year that I’m really excited about. I love to listen and help the people I clean for; it tends to be a therapeutic experience for everyone. Plus, I leave a big bag of Hershey’s Kisses at every house I clean as a thank you for using my services. (And why have a stranger clean your home when you can hire one of your own—a fellow Bronco).

Do you offer cleaning services for the aftermath of large parties?

I do. As long as people get in touch with me before the party, I’m willing to fix everything up for them the next morning.

To book the fabulous Cleaning Carol, send a Facebook message to Caroline Cerf. She has competitive rates (and will do a much more thorough cleaning than any pledge).
