7 Movies To Watch After Getting Out Of A Relationship

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SCU chapter.

1. Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind

This movie is pretty ideal if you’ve recently broken up with someone and are having second thoughts.  It will equally rehash the good and bad from your relationship.  Things may not have been so bad that you need to have your mind erased, but it’s still a relevant film.

2. 500 Days of Summer

Aside from making me fall deeply in love with Zooey Deschanel, this movie captures a break-up like no other.  It’s funny, honest, and hopeful—living proof that art can be honest and upbeat.

3. Perks of Being a Wallflower

Nothing screams young love like this film.  It’s nice to be reminded that though all relationships don’t work out like we hope, the ride is still pretty great.  Plus, who doesn’t love Emma Watson?

4. Adventureland

This is just a straight up enjoyable film about summer relationships.  Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart put on arguably the best performances of their careers.  And that’s not to mention the film also has Ryan Reynolds and Martin Starr as strong supporting roles.  This film is a keeper.

5. Rushmore

Wes Anderson’s films are perfect for when your heart is feeling a little achy.  Though you’re probably not hung up on your high school teacher, this film reminds us of all the crazy things we do for love and affection.  It’s a must a watch after experiencing unrequited love.

6. Forgetting Sarah Marshall

If you really aren’t taking the break-up well, treat yourself to a laugh.  Jason Siegel is top-notch in this flick, and he’ll take your mind off your pain for at least a couple hours.

7. Drinking Buddies

This film didn’t make too big a splash when it came out in 2013, but it will certainly fill your emotional needs.  With a cast that includes Olivia Wilde, Jake Johnson, Anna Kendrick, and Ron Livingston, this movie is stacked with awesome down-to-earth scenes surrounding intimacy, break-ups, and disinterest. It’ll help with those blues for sure.
