6 Ways to Work Out When Malley is Closed

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SCU chapter.

As well all know, Santa Clara is a very fit and fun school, so it is important to many of us buff broncos to hit the gym. Most days we can just lace up our Nike’s, throw on some pump up music (my personal favorite being EDM or rap, maybe sprinkle in some T-Swift), and strut your stuff to Malley. We’ve all had those days when you saunter up to the door and to your dismay, Malley is closed. When the elliptical isn’t an option, try one of these six fun ways to work on your fitness.

1. Run

Running is one of the best forms of cardio and we are lucky enough to have such a beautiful campus! Try running the Mission Garden, Campus Loop, or even the stairs in your dorm!

2. Bedroom Yoga

Yoga is a great work out and so easy to do anywhere. Just go on YouTube and look up quick yoga routines like this one.

3. Dance Party

Dancing is not only ridiculously fun but also a killer work out. Whether you are alone in your room or with a group of friends, just blast your favorite songs and dance like no ones watching! I personally love to groove to “Shut Up and Dance” by WALK THE MOON.

4. Body Circuit: squats, lunges, abs, Burpees, and more

Choose your favorite sequence of workouts and just go for it. If you are stumped, you can also look up videos on YouTube. The Popsugar fitness YouTube Channel is generally a great source for workouts!

5. Ballet Beautiful

Ever heard of Ballet Beautiful? Well, it’s some of the Victoria’s Secret models’ (we’re talking Candice Swanepoel, Doutzen Kroes, Lily Aldridge…the list goes on) best kept secret. Founder Mary Helen Bowers has created workouts you can do from your home that sculpt a dancer’s lean, toned physique. Check out one of her exercises below!

6. Sports

Grab a few buds and go to the basketball court of the Bellomy field to play some pick up basketball, soccer, or football! Nothing like some good old fashion sports.

So now you can keep up with your work out routine regardless if the Malley is an option. Stay fit, Broncos!
