This year is a big one for collegiettes across the country - many of us are of-age for the first time to do something important this year: vote in the upcoming presidential election! Whether you're voting Republican or Democrat, or researched one of the various other parties and found that you like them better, or are up in the air, here's some important information to keep in mind when you either hit up the polls or send in your absentee ballot for November 6th:

And for every guy who’s forgotten how agonizing it is to straighten hair, pluck eyebrows, and starve for the sake of being thin.

You Better Watch Out, Boys

That's right. The competition is in, and it's from across-the-pond in jolly old England. In the past few months, English export/boy band extraordinaire One Direction has captured sound waves and girls' hearts with their catchy fluff pop, cute accents, and UK swagger. However, behind their classy outfits and coifed hair lurks an even greater threat to capture the attention of girls across America. This threat writes his own lyrics, plays all his own instruments, can rap as good as the greats, and he gets it - it being what girls want to hear from the man in their life. READ MORE

When Crazy Friends Attack!

By Marie Barry
April 2, 2012 - 12:35am

You never know when it may happen.  You won’t have time to prepare for it when it does.  No, I’m not talking about the zombie apocalypse.  I’m talking about that text you get while you’re doing work late on a Tuesday night, the one where your friend asks if you’re around.  I’m talking about when you go downstairs to open the door to let him in and find out he’s not alone.  There are two other people with him, and they’re armed with instruments and purple Post-It notes.  Warning: they are as dangerous as zombies, so make sure to back away slowly and then run for it.  Scream while you’re running too.  You might be able to attract Public Safety. Let’s Hear it for the Boy (Next Door)

In the year of vampires, wizards and werewolves (oh my!) sometimes it’s easy to forget about the cuties next door. Sure they do not sparkle or turn into wolves, but they still somehow possess the ability to get our tongues to wag and our cheeks to blush. So here’s to the hotties that can borrow a cup of sugar from us anytime! 1) Ryan Reynolds—if only Ryan would pull a Van Wilder and never leave the University of Scranton, we wouldn’t mind in the least. 2) Channing Tatum--….oh sorry we could not stop drooling in order to come up with something witty to say. Well here’s hoping that some Scranton cops look a little like his 21 Jump Street persona. READ MORE

Midterm Madness—Your Midterm Survival Kit

Midterm Madness—Your  Zombie  Midterm Survival Kit 1. When studying for more than one test, alternate subjects rather than bashing your head against the wall when the boredom sets in (because it will set in). 2. When reading those philosophy/theology books that are as purple as Barney but denser than a block of wood, try to underline the topic sentence of each paragraph—if you can find it. It’ll help you retain the information and clarify what all the wordiness is ultimately trying to say. READ MORE

It’s safe to say that for most of us at Scranton, studying abroad is part of our college plan. But even with a study abroad plan in the works (or behind you), when Spring begins to peak through the clouds, the travel itch starts, and dreaming about an epic Euro-trip or an Australian adventure becomes a daily distraction when struggling through our oh-so-boring lectures. But planning a trip abroad can be scary, time consuming, and let's not forget--super expensive. Lucky for us, Her Campus has partnered with Contiki, the #1 travel company for young people, offering over 200 guided tours and pre-planned trips in 40+ countries, exclusively for 18-35-year-olds—all for amazingly low prices!...

Florence + the Machine's Ceremonials: Check it Out

By Marie Barry
February 11, 2012 - 3:25pm

In a year where the music world was ruled by Adele, it seemed that many other female musicians were cast to the wayside in favor of this red-haired siren from across the pond.  Her sophomore debut 21 was anything but a slump, and Adele rightly deserves any and all awards she has or may win for this popular album.  However, I'd like to call attention to another red-haired British siren who released a sophomore album in 2011 that was anything but a dud.
