Scenic

Top of the World

Located near the Dunmore Reservoir, the Top of the World is a locally-made hiking trail perfect for a beautiful weekend! With a hike up the mountain that takes nearly two hours, it offers a beautiful view that is perfect to stare at during a picnic before the long descent!

Summit Point

If there’s not enough time to spend 4 hours hiking, or if you’re just not an avid hiker, then Summit Point is a much better hike for you to embark on! While the view can’t compare to the Top of the World, it is still breathtaking.

Maple Lake

Located in Springbrook Township, Maple Lake offers calm, beautiful offers to spend the day fishing. These calm waters also perfectly reflect any sunset, so take the time to check this out because it’s something everyone needs to see!

Food Pub Style

Loading Dock

Located in Dunmore, Loading Dock offers the perfect pub atmosphere with amazing food to compliment it.

Kelly’s Pub & Eatery

Kelly’s Pub & Eatery is a staple of NEPA, and it’s located on 1802 Cedar Avenue in Scranton. Although they don’t deliver, their signature wings, sandwiches and fries are definitely worth the five-minute drive.

Pizza Places

Calabria’s

On 420 W. Drinker Street in Dunmore, Calabria’s is a local favorite, known for their homemade chicken tenders and sweet sauce that accompanies their pizza and any dishes.

Revello’s

One of the two pizza places located here in the “Pizza Capital of the World,” Revello’s is a NEPA classic. On 502 South Main Street in Old Forge, Revello’s features the classic “tray of red” and “tray of white” square pizza that distinguishes Old Forge pizza from all other pizza. If you aren’t local but you love the pizza, you can order trays of par-baked Revello’s pizza on their website that’ll ship right to your door!

Salerno’s 

The same classic, square Old Forge pizza is featured at Salerno’s, but there is a subtle difference between Salerno’s and Revello’s pizza. To tell the difference, you’ll just have to try pizza from both! Salerno’s is located on 139 Moosic Road in Old Forge.

Small Town Favs

Cara Mia’s

Cara Mia’s is an Italian deli that serves gourmet subs, pizza, salads and wraps. This locally owned restaurant is located on 210 East Drinker Street in Dunmore.

Zummo’s

Zummo’s Café is located on 918 Marion Street in Scranton, which is about a half hour from campus on foot, about five minutes by car. It’s absolutely worth stopping in for their breakfast, brunch, sandwich options (with some vegan options, too!) and their fair share of specialty coffees. The spacious setup in the back room of Zummo’s allows for studying or socializing in a cozy atmosphere.

Caravia is a retail store located at 1151 Northern Boulevard in Clarks Summit that specializes in fresh produce, and features a wide variety of prepared, gourmet foods and made to order sandwiches. The store strives to put local, organic food on their shelves as much as possible, which is all the more reason to give it a try.

Mansour’s Market

Located in Scranton on 969 Prescott Avenue, Mansour’s Market is the perfect breakfast or lunch destination when you are getting just a little too sick of DeNaples food (I know I’ve heard everyone say it at least once!)

Family owned and located on 317 Linden Street, Scanlan’s offers an elegant environment for a Sunday brunch with your girlfriends, as well as deliciously prepared dishes.

Duffy’s Coffee House

This local coffeehouse on 306 South State Street in Clarks Summit has all the features of the ideal café, serving breakfast and lunch, and a wide variety of coffees, teas and other drinks. Duffy’s hosts events for local musicians, which are posted on their website.

JJ McNally’s

JJ McNally’s is a delicious spot for a quick lunch and offers many healthy options, especially for vegans and vegetarians! Located on 501 Linden Street (right next to Levels and Backyard Alehouse!) be sure to stop by for a bite!

A Night Out

Market Street Bar and Grill

Market Street Bar and Grill, located on 223 West Market Street, offers an array of interesting dishes. They offer delicious house made dishes, as well as homemade desserts and ice creams to finish off the visit!

State Street Grill

State Street Grill might be a little bit out of the way, but it’s definitely worth the drive. Located on 114 South State Street in Clarks Summit, the restaurant serves lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. If you visit during the warmer months, you can sit outside on the expansive patio and enjoy your meal with friends or family.

If you’re looking for a night out off campus, and you’re in the mood for Italian, Pazzo in Pittston is definitely the place to go. Their menu features various kinds of pizzas, as well as other Italian staples.

Terra Preta

Located on 222 Wyoming Avenue in the Ritz Theater Building in Scranton, Terra Preta serves up a “farm to table” dining experience. The menu features flatbreads, small plates, salads, sides and entrees that change seasonally to display what is the freshest and most reflective of that particular season.

Dunmore Candy Kitchen

Specializing in chocolate covered items, the Dunmore Candy Kitchen features homemade chocolate that is made onsite at their Dunmore Corners location (206 East Drinker Street in Dunmore). Not only do they boast a wide variety of chocolates, but they also offer gift baskets and seasonal treats that are bound to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Picc’s

Family-owned and located in Old Forge on 938 Moosic Road, Picc’s is the perfect place to stop after a visit to one of the above OF pizza places! Picc’s offers an array of interesting ice cream combinations that are sure not to disappoint!

Cuppa Cake Café

A locally owned cupcakery café on 701 East Market Street in Scranton, Cuppa Cake Café features weekly specials of sandwiches, wraps and soups, as well as a variety of uniquely flavored miniature cupcakes, all of which are made from scratch. Cupcake flavors include red velvet, salted caramel, peanut butter cup, and the classic chocolate and vanilla. The featured flavors change often, so there’s always something new to try!

Nibbles & Bits

Nibbles and Bits is the ultimate go-to for gourmet gift baskets filled with chocolates and treats or just to satisfy your cravings with any one of their handmade sweets. Located in a quaint, little house on 1759 Sanderson Avenue in Scranton, this sweet shop is a must-see.

Located on Main Street in Peckville, Live With It by Lora Hobbs carries more expensive home items for any student looking to spice up their dorm room, house or even purchase a Christmas gift for someone back home!

On & On

On & On has an ever-changing inventory, so you are sure to be surprised whenever you visit! The local store rents out various sections of the floor to local venders to sell their products. The catch? Products MUST be made from reused materials found in the local area. This innovative shop is located on 518 Lackawanna Avenue in Scranton.

Hez Studio

Hez Studio is often missed because it’s housed right above Cosmo’s Cheesesteaks. Hez is located on the third floor of 528 Moosic Street, and they specialize in hair cutting and coloring, as well as other beauty treatments like manicures and pedicures.

Lavish

To treat yourself and your home, stop by Lavish for a top-of the-line salon treatment or for a unique statement piece for your home. Lavish also provides all the necessities for bringing the spa to you, with their assortment of lotions, scrubs and body butters for you to purchase. Lavish is located on 600 Linden Street in Scranton (right across from City Market!)

Sanderson Place Salon & Spa

Sanderson Place is located on 1805 Sanderson Avenue in Scranton. Sanderson Place offers spa treatments such as facials and massages as well as hair treatments like cuts, colors, highlights and extensions.

Now Hair Salon

Now Hair Salon is about a five-minute walk from campus, located on 132 Adams Avenue. This salon offers expert hair, nail, makeup and waxing services, with all of the prices for each service listed on their website.
