This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Scranton chapter.

The work never stops but college does. Although Andrea is actively involved in many clubs and organizations, she makes sure to set aside time for friends and fun. Her strategy has paid off. Read on to see how Andrea’s philosophy has benefitted her.

Name: Andrea RickettiYear: 2015Major: MarketingMinor: Operations Information SystemsHometown: Hamilton, NJ

Why did you choose The University of Scranton?Scranton was the only school I visited that made me feel at home.  Everyone was friendly and you could always find a smiling face.  The combination of having my desired major and extracurricular activities made Scranton an obvious choice.

What is your favorite part about The University of Scranton?Hands down the people and professors. I have created a mentorship with professors I have never had, which shows how welcoming our school is.  In addition, my friends are my favorite part about Scranton.  No matter what we are doing, we always have fun.

What activities are you involved in on campus? It is a pretty long list.  I am Treasurer of the Marketing Society, Board Member of the Business Club, Editor for the Business Section of The Aquinas, on the President’s Board Club Planning Committee, a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon, a member of Omega Beta Sigma, Facilitator for Scranton Emerging Leaders, and I work at the Small Business Development Center.

What is your favorite activity you are involved in on campus?I really enjoy working on the President’s Board Club.  I helped plan the Young Alumni Day this past fall, which was very successful. A small group of students worked in tandem with the Dean of the business school to plan the event. Working with young alumni to help benefit the current students was rewarding.  The students were able to receive tangible advice on their future job and internship search.

How are you able to balance all the activities you part take in, school work and your social life?No matter how busy I am, I make sure to take a step back and enjoy my limited time at Scranton.  Spending time with my friends is always the best stress reliever because we never stop laughing.  I think it is extremely important to have a social life.  When looking back on college, you will remember the memories made with your friends.  You do not want to miss out on them.

What is the biggest challenge you faced here at the U?The biggest challenge I faced at Scranton was dealing with failure. I have had my fair share of setbacks throughout my four years.  However, I have had an incredible support team through my friends and family.  I have learned how to handle failure maturely through my time here.

How does it feel graduating college soon?I do not want to talk about it!!! While I am excited to start the next chapter of my life, I will miss all of the memories and friends I made at Scranton.  Nothing will be able to compare to it.

So we hear you recently accepted a job at SEI investments. Congratulations! How does it feel to know you will be graduating with a job upon graduation?Thank you so much! It feels great to have everything fall into place at once.  Within one week I accepted a winter internship and full time employment. I am excited and nervous to start the next chapter of my life.  I will be moving to Philadelphia, which will be a new experience, but I am excited to see where it will take me.
