4 Reasons March 20th is the New January 1st

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Scranton chapter.

In winter, nature shrivels up and dies. In spring, nature blossoms and blooms. I tend to believe us college girls follow the same pattern as nature. In winter, we kick back with body pillows and Netflix. In contrast, spring weather motivates us to slowly crawl out of hibernation and embrace all the opportunities the season has to offer us. Spring is the perfect time of year to challenge ourselves and actually commit to resolutions that would have only lasted 4 days into January.

Here are 4 spring resolutions from HC Scranton:

1. Your workout routine can finally go into full swing. Now that the snow is plowed, ice is melted and you can breathe through your nose again, working out has never been easier. The spring offers many opportunities to run marathons (5Ks are good too!), go bike riding or stroll around your favorite park.

2. Dedicate yourself to finding a summer job or internship. With summer creeping up, spring is the perfect opportunity to surf the web for jobs and internships. Use these websites to help you apply to an assortment of jobs!

3. Utilize the outdoors to form new study habits.Sometimes the natural sounds of the outdoors can put the mind to peace. Surround yourself with nature and plop yourself outside with homework. Don’t forget to grab a Starbucks iced coffee!

4. Actually spring clean!Spring-cleaning isn’t only for soccer moms, it can be for you too! Spring is a reason to organize your schoolwork, clean your dorm or donate unused clothes to goodwill. You’ll thank yourself during move-out week!

Good luck xoxo HC Scranton!
