There’s so many things to appreciate January for; a fresh start, cozy sweaters, coffee shop dates, chilly nights. But January also seems to bring along something I am not so appreciative of: an unavoidable, universal cold.

I remember walking back into my dorm for the first time after winter break, coughing & having no voice, to 3 other sickly roommates all laying in bed. And what happens when you put a bunch of sick kids in one place? THE PLAGUE. Just kidding. But it does spread & it takes forever to go away as well.

After having a cold for a good 2 weeks, I was determined to kick it in the butt the holistic way with an interesting, yet delicious drink called Golden Milk Tea. You can probably guess why they call it “golden” milk… it’s vibrant yellow saturation just makes it all the more fun (shamelessly adding that it changes the tea/coffee insta pic game).

If you haven’t heard of this little concoction, it is a hot beverage (that can be chilled & poured over ice as well) with its main superfood ingredient being Turmeric. The reason turmeric is the perfect spice to incorporate into your get-well-again regime is because it’s packed with your daily manganese requirements like iron, vitamin B, potassium, fiber, & more. It also acts as an anti-inflammatory which is awesome for fighting against sore throats or swollen glands. It basically helps to flush out the bad, & replenish your body with fresh goodness.

If you’re suffering from that cold that never seems to end, give Golden Milk Tea a try! Enjoy it hot or cold, & drink up to 2-3 cups a day!

INGREDIENTS

-Preferred type of milk (I like almond or coconut milk for this best)

-Turmeric

-Ginger Tea

-Optional add-ins: Honey & Lemon

Brew ginger tea, add 1-2 teaspoons of turmeric, stir, & once the turmeric is pretty much all the way dissolved, pour in as much of your preferred milk base as you like! I love adding honey to soothe a sore throat & lemon to help flush out the sickly toxins!

Stay strong & get well!
