After seeing La La Land, I was deeply inspired and as an illustrator, I knew that I wanted to incorporate it into my work. So, I made some illustrations to evoke just how amazing this movie was to me. As an aspiring fashion illustrator, I tried also to focus on the fashion aspects while recreating the atmosphere using digital techniques I have learned while a graduate student at SCAD.
La La Land is the story about a woman who hated jazz and a man who loved jazz more than anything. The two became passionate lovers and just as in all great love stories, the two were like a “fire.”
The director of La La Land, Damien Chazelle, created the magic of this film through every aspect of filming, from the music and film techniques borrowed from the classics to costumes that bring out the mood of the scenes. Set in beautiful Los Angeles, the backdrop of the sky and the vivid colors of the costumes make an amazing harmony evocative of watercolors.
When the film ends, it’s as if the audience has been in a fantastic dream. The Golden Globes proved that this movie was incredible in every way as well, winning 6 major awards, including Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Motion Picture and Best Director.
