Décor Inspo: Valentino’s Haute Couture 2018

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SCAD ATL chapter.

How amazing is the fact that we can get inspiration for decorating from fashion, and not just any fashion, but Valentino’s Haute Couture 2018 collection. First off to summarize the meaning of Haute couture, it is the making of a high quality made-to-order clothes for private clients and are presented to the public every season in January and July composed of no less than 50 original designs (both day and evening garments). Now on to the Fashion House founded by Valentino Clemente Ludovico an Italian guy who back in the time became well-known for his red dresses in a shade that was widely known as “Valentino Red” whom among his clients were the best dressed women in the world including Jacqueline Kennedy.

Now, how can we gain inspiration from fashion to implement it onto decoration? It’s easy and fun! I will provide you with a brief guide/explanation on how to start and work it out. So, this first look from Valentino Haute Couture, which I adore, can be used to decorate an interior for example a bedroom. A bedroom because you might want calm, sophisticated colors that produce a vibe and what can we get out of this by this “outfit”?

  1. Colors

For a room you might want maximum two main colors and one you can add as an extra for a delicate touch, we will pick the green of the top and the pink ruffles of the inner one. Imagine a pink bedding with green accents or even the other way around, relaxing right! I almost forgot, the details. The floral print on the whole look can be a touch you can find added on bedding or cushions just keep in mind to find quality flower designs on it and not to confuse with the cheap looking ones.

  1. Accents

For a bedroom I’ve seen some fancy stuff like having your initials on painted wooden letters, vases with flowers and even REAL wall art. If you picked your bedding to be say pink, your accents can be green, another shade of that pink we see on the ruffles and a third color. Our third color will be that dark purple in the trousers and shoes. Balancing all these three colors is key and it will all depend on where you arrange them. An accent you can find to put on your night stand can be something similar to the “feathers” in the model’s shoe this will look chic and low key extravagant.

  1. Surface

Surfaces are key as well, they add more on to what you have planned. Throughout this look there are multiple surfaces you can find on cushion, bedding, lamps and accent decoration. It will make anything more sophisticated than before.

This can be a start to decorate in a modern way and not just stick with what it’s seem as normal which may be boring. Below are two closeups from looks that it’s color combinations are exciting and incite you to decorate your whole house!

My inquisitive nature enables me to discover efficient ways of streamlining marketing approaches to reach target audience. The process of translating various topics into a collection of garments after intensive research and visual development, makes me feel empowered because it is a unique medium of self-expression. However, I am fully aware of the importance of marketing a product in order to gain the best results which makes me equally passionate about both the aspects of Fashion World
