Valentine’s Day: Quad Cities Style

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SAU chapter.

Valentine’s Day is this Sunday, Bees. While many of you may be in a long distance relationship this V Day, many of you may spend this special holiday here in the QC. In honor of all of those local love birds, here are five Valentine’s Day dates for QC couples.

1. Quad City Entertainment

Located in Moline, Ill., QC Entertainment is the Chuck-E-Cheese for all adults. With bowling, laser tag and a game room, your childish side is bound to shine through. Whether you and your special someone have been together for months or years, it’s impossible to have a bad time. Oh, and did I mention that there’s a bar there too? Grab a drink (or three) to get rid of your pre-date jitters.

2. Downtown Davenport

Spend this Valentine’s Day exploring Downtown Davenport. Whether you’ve walked the downtown sidewalk dozens of times, or if you’ve never broadened your horizon past Carriage Haus, a day downtown with your sweetie can be full of fun and surprises. Check out local coffee shops or art museums. It’s amazing what you can find when you step outside of the SAU campus. Stop off at Lagomarcino’s afterwards to satisfy your sweet tooth.

3. Granite City

Follow the typical Valentine’s Day routine, and go to dinner. Don’t settle for any dinner, however, and head to Granite City. This classy restaurant features a low-key atmosphere—perfect for conversation. Tables fill up fast, so make sure you get your reservations made ahead of time.

4. River’s Edge

Change up a typical date night and go ice skating. The cold temperature will only make you want to cuddle up even closer to your guy or gal. FYI: Saturday’s public skate time is from 3:15-5:15, and Sunday’s public skate time is from 2:45-4:30.

5. Date Night In

Trying to save money this Valentine’s Day? Enjoy a date night in. Rent a few movies, light a few candles and cuddle up to your sweetheart. For bonus points, hang a few hearts from the ceiling (Pinterest has 100 billion similar ideas). While it may seem like a normal date night, your significant other will love the extra effort.

No matter what you do this Valentine’s Day, enjoy it. Valentine’s Day only comes once a year–although you should love your S.O. every single day. Shower each other in love and affection, and make this Valentine’s Day one to remember.
