If you’re a junior like me, you might be freaking out a little (or a lot) about finding summer internships. Here are the stages of applying for jobs for the summer!
Trying to write a resume
What counts as relevant experience? You babysat for years, that totally counts, right?
Writing your cover letter
You know you’re awesome, but how do you tell them that and seem down-to-earth at the same time?
Waiting for calls or emails about interviews
Your resume is pretty fantastic, so you’re waiting for them to roll in, but wait. Is that a misplaced comma? Will you ever get an interview with a typo on your resume?
When you finally get a phone call from someone saying they’re interested in you as a job candidate
That comma was perfectly placed. You know what you’re doing. And while you’re on the phone, feel free to do your happy dance.
Walking into the interview
Your hair is done, you’ve got your business casual wear on and a great lipstick. You did a crash course on interview questions the night before. It’s time to blow their minds.
After the interview
You might have felt a little blindsided by some of the questions, but you’re pretty sure you were able to get your points across and seem pretty intelligent. Now it’s time for a nap.
Hearing you weren’t chosen this time
It’s not fun to hear you weren’t chosen, but you still have so many applications out, you’ll get something!
When the job you were really counting on calls back and tells you to come sign paperwork when you can
After all, you’re a pretty awesome candidate. And after all that work, you deserve this job.
