October brings fall colors, pumpkin spice everything and the color pink, as everyone takes a month to spread awareness about breast cancer. But while you can always catch this week’s Campus Celebrity with a pumpkin spice latte in her hand, Lindsey Mack’s color of choice for the month of October leans a little more toward purple than the traditional pink.

“It’s not that I don’t support breast cancer awareness month; my grandma had breast cancer so I’m a supporter. I just believe that domestic violence awareness is under represented. This is a very important issue and needs to be talked about more,” Mack said.

She may be an accounting major, but Lindsey’s extra-curricular activities are what truly define her. She is a Peer Assistant, participates in Dance Marathon, and is involved with both Accounting Club and Bystander Intervention Group. But there’s one club that holds a special place in her heart: the Sexual Assault Awareness Team. Lindsey is the President of SAAT at SAU for the second straight year. She says she joined the group after her first meeting and never left. It is a great place where she can share her passion with like-minded people.

“My favorite part is the meetings! I love how many people share my passion to make this campus and society a better place. We also have our fun off of topic discussions that I really enjoy.”

Lindsey says her ultimate goal is to open a Non Profit Rape Crisis Center back in her hometown of Burlington, IA. But for now she is happy just being a volunteer for SafePath Survivor Resources. As she graduates this spring, Lindsey is also excited to accept a full time position with Enterprise Holdings while she works towards a master’s degree.

Lindsey credits all her success thus far to her biggest role model:

“My mama. She is such a strong woman that has done everything she can to give my brother and me everything we could ever want. And all by herself! She is the most dedicated, hardworking, talented, sweetest person you could ever meet! She has taught me so much and I hope someday I can be half as inspirational as she is.”

You can always count on seeing this busy bee at SAU events, hanging out on the quad or taking a stroll through Vander Veer!

Here are three things you may not know about Lindsey:

1.  My favorite TV Show is Friday Night Lights.

2. I’m one of 56 grandchildren.

3. My front bumper is in the trunk of my car.
