Commencement Ceremony

Celebrate graduation with the class of 2013! The commencement speaker, Sister Barbara Moore, has been active in historic fights for civil rights, such as participating in the Martin Luther King Jr.-led march to Montgomery, which was protected under court order by federal marshals, the Alabama National Guard and US Army. Commencement Brunch

Brunch before the graduation ceremony that can be enjoyed by graduates and their families. This event is $7.50 for adults, $4 for children ages 6-12, and free for children under 5. Tickets are required and can be ordered here. Students can be picked up before Friday, May 10th at noon at the Student Accounts Office in Ambrose Hall or at check-in on Saturday. There will be a limited number of tickets available for purchase at the door. READ MORE

Fifth Annual Dash for Drex

Participate in SAU's 2.1 mile walk/run in honor of Derrek Drexler, a full scholarship SAU student who passed away in 2009. Besides being an event to remember Derrek, money is raised for a scholarship fund in his name. Packets can be picked up at the Rogalski Center, 2nd floor, from 2 to 5 p.m. on Friday, April 26. On-site registration will take place from 8 to 8:45 a.m. on Saturday, April 27. Participants should be lined up by 8: 45 a.m. The race will end in front of the Rogalski Center. This event costs $25 for the general public, $20 for SAU students and $15 for a T-Shirt only. The race application can be downloaded here, and for more information you can call 563-333-6023...

Come see the SAU theatre department's performance of  Chicago on Friday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 21 at 3 p.m. The musical follows Roxie Hart as she tries to find fame before winding up in jail--where fame may find her anyway. Tickets are $15 for adults, $14 for faculty/staff/alumni/senior citizens, $12 for non-SAU students and free for current SAU students with ID. Tickets can be purchased here. READ MORE

Out of the Ashes: Mestiza/o Christianity

Come to this year's Catholic Studies lecture featuring Jeanette Rodriguez. Rodriguez will discuss Our Lady of Guadalupe as a symbol of Mestiza/o Christianity and U.S. Latina theology. Rodriguez earned her doctorate in theology from the Graduate Theological Union in Berkely, Calif., and focuses on Latino/a and liberation theology. She is also the founding director of the Center for the Study of Justice in Society. This event is free and open to the public. READ MORE

Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser

Help Habitat for Humanity's work building affordable housing for families in need by attending their second annual spaghetti dinner! Dinner includes salad, pasta, bread, dessert and more and will be served throughout the entire event. All proceeds help fight housing poverty.
