Sweaters are comfy, which makes them a hot commodity for college students, but it may be tricky to elevate a comfy sweater without looking like a hot mess. Luckily, I received some enlightenment from my favorite retailer – Nordstrom. Oh Nordies, what would we do without you?
Let’s take a look at some of the latest sweater trends for fall.
Turtle Necks:
The ‘Need it Now’ turtle neck made by Free People is a funky twist on a classic piece. The oversized turtle neck has a semi-open back. This piece is irresistible and will make you feel comfy and sexy. Add it over a black bodycon dress, throw on a leather jacket, and pair it with strappy heels for girls night or date night out in the city.
Cable Knit:
The ‘Point Reyes’ cable sweater by Cupcakes & Cashmere is a semi-open knit with a straight-yarn twist down the back. This sweater looks great with dark denim, a floppy wool hat, and booties. However, it can easily be worn tucked into a leather skater skirt topped with a statement necklace for a comfy meets chic look.
Asymmetrical Cardigans:
Asymmetrical shapes can transform an every-day outfit into a work of art. The Free People ‘Water Fall’ open cardigan is a drappy high-low sweater, that adds a unique twist to your fall wardrobe. Throw this over a white tank, add a scarf, ripped jeans and some boots and you will turn heads wherever you go.
All of these looks are affordable right now due to Nordstrom’s Fall sale, and similar pieces can be found at the Nordstrom Rack. If they are out of your budget, you can find comparable items at other retailers, such as Forever 21 since these sweaters are currently trending.
