How Moving Away to College Changed Me

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at San Francisco chapter.

Moving to San Francisco to attend college was the best decision I have ever made. I have changed dramastically over the past two years and I believe for the better. From the friends I have made, to the job I have, the classes I have taken and much more, has positively shaped the person I am today.

Getting away from my hometown and knowing no one here in SF was actually a plus for me. It forced me to break out of my shell and really try to make great friendships. If I did not really make an effort in trying to make connections, I might not have some of the wonderful friends I have today.

Being in the city of San Francisco has also changed my perspective on a lot of things. I felt that at my highschool, people did not really discuss the important issues that the people of San Francisco are so passionate about. My college classes also had a part in it too. Taking classes I was actually interested in, helped me become motivated about my classwork. Living in this city helped me find what I am truly passionate about.

Moving away to San Francisco has been life changing, and I always encourage people to move away for college if it is something they want and can do. I am happy with the person I am becoming living and attending college in this city. I am looking forward to continuing to learn and grow during my next years here.
