Hey guys!

I got to talk to Jacob Violante on being the campus celeb with his radio show ALL BALLZ on ksfsmedia.net. His show comes on every Tuesday from 2-4pm! His show is based on all sports! His radio name is Diego Tha Fragrance! Jacob is a senior at San Francisco State University majoring in Broadcast and Electronic Commnication Arts. He hopes to become a sports reporter in the future. His hometown is San Jose but he lives in the city so the commuting isn’t bad.

Here is the Q & A…

Any orgaizations you are part of?
I am apart of Camp Wastahi (its a summer camp).

Part time jobs?
I work at Palm House Bar and Mozzarella Di Bufala on the side while I’m not pimpin.

What is it like having your own radio show on campus?
Having my own radio show is really fun, and pretty cool, at least to me. I get to control what we talk about and what goes on the air, so of course we try to make it as much fun as possible, without getting into trouble…even though we do sometimes.

What is your radio show about? DJ name?
Our Radio show is ALL BALLZ Radio and it is about the hottest sports topics, the craziest street tales, and the freshest slaps of course. And my DJ name is Diego The Fragrance. no big deal.

Where did you come up with the name?

There is two parts to the name. The first part was actually betroathed to me while I was in the booth making a guest appearance on Beehive Radio. One of the hosts thought my name was Diego so I went along with it, and did the whole show as Diego. I also thought to myself, I can’t just be Diego, I needed something flashy, but not too flashy…and i figured everyone loves a good fragrance…and so Diego the Fragrance was born. I think it works. People smile when they hear it. So i’m keeping it.

What are your responsibiites for the show?
My responsibilities for the show are searching for talking points, talking about the points, veering off topic and onto random weird tangents (I’m super good at that), controlling the board, and recording our show.

Do you ever get nervous or shy about going on-air?
I always get nervous right before we go on air, but it usually goes away about 5 mins into our set. In front of the camera, that is a different story. I get super nervous, jittery, and I feel my whole body tense up. I like to think i have a face for tv, but not the balls for it….that’s why I save all my ballz for ALL BALLZ Radio.

What are your future plans?
Plans for the future are to hopefully get a job at a sports tv or radio station and work there for the rest of my life or until the world ends. Write about anything really, or just work on a production.
Radio is good for me…i think i covered it a couple answers above.

Last advice to becoming students going into broadcasting?
Final parting advice…..practice, find what you like and what you are good at, and try your best. If you do all of those things, you should be good to go.
