10 Top Tips For PNMs During Fall Recruitment

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at San Francisco chapter.

So you’re thinking about joining a sorority?

Well, buckle up for a lifetime of sisterhood and singing.

Joining a sorority is one of the best and most life-changing moments of your life. Going the process can be an intimidating and one of the most exciting times of your college experience. From one Greek to another future Greek, here are ten tips on how to nail recruitment!

Trust the process

Seriously. Just trust it. If it’s meant to be, it’ll happen.

Relax (Seriously, just relax)

It’s okay to be nervous, but just relax! Everything is going to be fine.

Be genuine

These women could possibly become your future sisters. By being yourself and genuine, not only are you making the sisterhood more authentic but you won’t have to pretend someone you’re not for the rest of your time in college.

Get to know the women you’re talking to

Sorority women are just like you – a woman full of hopes, dreams, and fears. By getting to know them beyond the surface, you’ll be #squadgoals in no time.

Don’t join for the letters, join for the people

Sometimes, it’s easy to get caught up in which letters you think you’ll look the best in or trying to fit in with the “top house” (there’s no such thing, sisterhood is amazing regardless) on campus. By joining a sorority for the people instead of the letters, you’ll be proud of your letters no matter what.

Wear what makes you feel confident and comfortable

Regardless, it’s going to be a long day. All that talking, walking, singing, and smiling will be exhausting. Wearing six inch heels probably won’t help you out if you’re nervous, because you’ll have to worry about tripping in your new shoes. By wearing what you’re comfortable in, you’ll also get that extra boost of confidence you need when you interact with the sisters!

Ask questions about the sorority

After all, if this is the sorority you end up finding your home in, you’ll want to know what the sorority is all about, such as their philanthropy, traditions, what sisters do outside of campus, and more.

Have self-care time

At the end of the day, make sure you take some time for yourself! Whether it’s throwing in a Lush bath bomb in the tub or doing some yoga, taking the time to replenish yourself and energy will help you be prepared for the next day.

Good luck, PNMs! With these tips, we’re sure you’ll find your future home.
