A Refreshing Twist On Staying Hydrated

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Salisbury chapter.

Summer’s around the corner but the heat is already turning up! We all know how important it is to drink water, but it’s essential for having a fun summer and not worrying about getting dehydrated.

Water might be a chore to drink for some because it’s not fun and flavored like your favorite margarita or iced tea, so here’s a few recipes to add some flavor to your life.

Mango Detox:

Mangoes are amazing for your skin and can help with diabetes, lower cholesterol, improve sex and just taste delicious! Just cut up a mango into small pieces and add a bit of grated ginger to your water bottle to kick it up a bit. If you want it to be super refreshing, just freeze the mango pieces before adding them to your water.

A Touch of Watermelon:

It’s no secret that watermelon is the ultimate summer fruit so why not add it to your water? It’s full of vitamins and flavor and will definitely hit the spot on those hot summer evenings.

For this just cut up as much watermelon as you want (be sure to take out the seeds!) and add your water and put it in the fridge for a few hours so it’s nice and cool for you.

Refreshing Mojito:

If you want something a little more fun than just plain flavored water, then you might like this hydrating “mojito.” Get some carbonated water and add in a few sprigs of mint and some lime with a lot of ice. It’ll cool you down and taste like a treat!

Pinterest is full of amazing water infusion recipes if you’re looking for some more inspiration. Be sure to carry around a reusable water bottle so that you help out the earth while you hydrate! It doesn’t need to be the fanciest or most expensive bottle out there, in fact, my favorite bottles were less than $15 from Amazon and Walmart.
