Growing up in Texas and then uprooting and going to Indiana for college was definitely a culture shock. I don’t have enough fingers to count the number of times someone has asked me if I rode a horse to school. So I’ve started to tell people, “Yes, I did ride a horse to school and if it rained, I would bust out my paddle boat.”
Although every Texan has a different way of doing things, these 10 facts are basically rules us Texans, particularly girls, live by.
1. George Strait is every girl’s crush.
So what if he’s 62, have you heard Give It All We Got Tonight?
2. Whataburger.
There ain’t nothin in this whole wide world… like a honey butter chicken biscuit the morning after a wild night out.
3. NEVER call an adult by their first name.
It’s Mr. and Mrs. so and so until you’re dead.
4. It’s not pop or soda.
It’s coke.
5. We aren’t crazy drivers, you’re just slow.
Just kidding, we have road rage. But that’s because we can go up to 50 MPH on inner-city roads while y’all are still going 30.
6. You look like you ran a mile in the 100 degree heat…
…but you really just went to get the mail.
7. George Bush.
We love him and we’re sorry if you don’t.
8. Just like there are 2 sides to every story,
There’s 2 sides to every girl.
9. Laughing at anyone that thinks Chipotle and Taco Bell are “Mexican food”.
Y’all are so sheltered.
10. A phrase that could be either sincere or sarcastic,
“Bless your heart.”
