Essentials For A Road Trip

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Saint Mary's chapter.

For Easter break I hit the road with friends and we made our way from South Bend, Indiana to Washington D.C. After spending 20+ hours in the car, in just a span of a few days, I’d like to now consider myself an expert when it comes road trip essentials. So next time you find yourself packing for a trip, make sure you have these things at the top of your list.

AUX cord: We all know that music makes the entire trip, be sure to have playlists on playlists ready to go. Jamming with your friends to your favorite throwback songs will be sure to make those hours fly by.

Snacks: You’ll need a little bit of everything here. Don’t forget to pack something for those sweet and salty cravings. My personal favorites include a bag of bbq chips, some pretzels, and lots and lots of chocolate.

GPS: Don’t forget those practical items too. Whether you’re using the GPS on your phone, or something else, make sure you have your directions set before you go.

Phone charger: This is a must! You’ll need that charger to keep the music going and likely for your GPS too. Can you imagine…life without a phone?

Great company: Ah, come on. We all knew this one was coming. What would a road trip be without great friends to keep you sane (or drive you insane) for those 20+ hours?

*Also make sure you have those super important things like license and registration, spare tire, money, etc.
