Often it can be difficult to set all distractions aside and to have a productive day. But, it is possible to focus your attention to necessary tasks such as schoolwork and other housekeeping responsibilities. Here are some tips:

1. Plan out everything you are going to do on a particular day the night before.

At the end of the day, just before going to bed or around that time, write down everything that you would like to accomplish by the end of the day tomorrow. Think about things that will make you feel accomplished so that you can end your day tomorrow knowing you have had a productive day.

2. Don’t check social media first thing in the morning.

It is very tempting to grab your phone first thing in the morning and scroll through the feed of all your social media apps. However, it is an easy way to lose track of time and it is much better to get right out of bed and get ready for the day.

3. Create a specific to-do list and cross of things off as you go.

One of the first things you should do in the morning is to make a list of all the tasks you wish to accomplish. Look over what you have written last night and plan out your day.

4. Only check social media 2-3 times each day.

After completing a sufficient number of tasks, do use this time to have a social media break. However, make sure to keep track of time and not let your social media break get out of control. You need to make sure you get back to completing your tasks for the day. There is no need to check social media every 5 minutes. You will be able to get the necessary information by checking them 2-3 times a day.

5. Reflect on accomplishments at the end of the day

Look back on all the tasks you have accomplished throughout the day. Were you able to get everything done that you needed? If not, think about what better you could have done to be productive and have a new strategy.

I hope you find these tips helpful. Good luck collegiates!
