An October Guide to Events at Ryerson

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Toronto MU chapter.

Mark your calendars, people! Time to par-tay!

October is filled with events on campus! Too many to even count! With so many student groups putting things on, it’s hard not to find something to do. Between workshops, parties, hockey games, and 6ix fest, why look any further than campus to have some fun and learn something new?

Here’s a quick run down of some awesome events:

On October 4th, Student Learning Support is putting on a workshop titled “Introduction to Managing Tasks and Time”. This workshop is awesome for anyone, especially first years, looking for guidance on how to manage their time effectively to become outstanding students, or at least to minimize the stress of school, work, and life in general. The skills you learn here are useful for the rest of your life. For more details, visit Ryerson.ca/sls

October 6th showcases the Ryerson Ram’s men’s hockey team! It’s the season opener, so you know it’ll be a good time. You can go to the pre-game party on Gould street between noon and 6PM and experience live music, food, and games, and then enjoy an awesome game at 7PM in the Mattamy Athletic Centre! The best part? There will be a giveaway for 6ix Fest passes!

Speaking of 6ix Fest, why not spend Thanksgiving weekend enjoying awesome music with amazing artists such as Diplo and Big Sean? 6ix Fest has become so popular that people are dying to get tickets! And for those of you who went to Commerce frosh, you know you’re getting your wrist bands FOR FREE! For more info about 6ix fest, visit 6fest.ca

So we mentioned men’s hockey, but what about the infamous women’s hockey team? Don’t worry, they’re also playing at the Mattamy Athletic Centre on October 20th. The bst part? Students that attend this game are eligible for the “swipe and win” contest. The more games you attend, the higher your chances of winning prizes!

But what about Halloween? Well, thanks to the Ryerson Arts Society (RAS) and the Ryerson Student Union (RSU), there will be a pub night at Ram in the Rye on October 27th! This is a great chance to meet new people, plus the students responsible for putting on awesome events for the Faculty of Arts (RAS), and the entire university (RSU)! If you weren’t sure how you were going to celebrate Halloween, this is the perfect way to kick off the festivities!

This is one of the reason’s I love fall. There’s always so much to do! October is shaping up to be one amazing month!
