5 Skin and Hair Care Products You Can Find at Your Local Walmart

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Toronto MU chapter.

It’s no surprise that everyone wants nice skin and hair. Makeup is also something you’d want to enhance your features. It’s always fun to go shopping for beauty products, but when you pick up that bottle of elixir or even a simple eyebrow brush from a makeup store, like Sephora, you slowly put back the products and think about the what ifs. I’m here to tell you there are cheap alternatives that you can find at Walmart. Not only are they cheap, but they work very well. Here they are:

Buhbli Organics Skin Oil

First and foremost, skin oil. I have very dry skin and moisturizer alone doesn’t help me. Not only that, but my skin is very sensitive, so I can’t just pick up any moisturizer without getting a reaction. On one of my regular Walmart trips a few months back, as I was browsing around the makeup section, I came across organic products. I happened to see a facial oil. There was other skin oils as well such as rosehip, jojoba and argan oil. I personally bought the facial oil and the rosehip skin oil, both of which gave me great results. It added well needed moisture to my skin, as well as faded scars and it has other properties such as anti-wrinkles, minimizing pores and reducing fine lines. The product is approximately $15, which is a better alternative to Farsali elixir which is over $60.

L’Oreal Paris Brow Stylist Frame and Set

I believe that eyebrows are a girl’s best friend, they certainly are mine. So, accordingly, I want the best products for my eyebrows, from a range of brushes and an endless supply of pomades, powders, gels and pencils. However, I do not have enough money to spend on $40 worth of eyebrow brushes from MAC. Again, I went to my local Walmart and found an amazing eyebrow pomade, that is certainly not as expensive as Anastasia Beverly Hills. This eyebrow product is $10.97, and it comes with a pot of pomade, and a brush with an angled side and a spoolie on the other end. I’ve had mine for a year at least and it still hasn’t ran out. The pomade itself is very rich and opaque, giving your eyebrows a nice bold look. If you want a softer look, just use less product and blend it out with the spoolie side of the stylist.

Garnier® SkinActive® Moisture Bomb™ Sheet Mask

Again, my skin is very dry and sensitive, so I want to buy products to fight against that. That however, can get expensive, and ain’t nobody got money for that! My sister put me on this actually, because her skin is close to perfection and I aspire to have that one day. I recently purchased Garnier sheet masks, and it’s the best thing ever. The masks come for a number of different skin types, such as a mattifying face, a hydrating mask, or a charcoal mask! The masks were only $2.50 each.

Mane’n Tail

I use to have very long and thick hair, but recently, due to low iron and god knows what else, it’s gotten thin and my scalp gets dry when I switch up shampoos. I wanted something that would strengthen my hair, and moisturizer it, also give it the illusion of thickness, and as a result I started to use the Mane’n Tail leave in conditioner. It was specifically to strengthen hair and it was convenient in moisturizing my scalp. I used to use the shampoo and conditioner, specifically the Herbal Gro, and I really loved it. The leave in conditioner is between $10-$15.

Argan Oil of Morocco

I had purchase a new shampoo and conditioner, because my old one gave me a bad scalp reaction. I’ve only used Argan oil of Morocco shampoo and conditioner once, and I will never use anything but this! My hair was no longer flat and dry. My scalp healed as much as it could after one use, and no doubt it will continue to improve, as there was no dryness. My hair just felt and looked better, and I was not insecure to leave it natural as I usually am. My scalp and hair have not felt or looked this good in a long time.
