Name: Nachum Fisch

Year: Junior

Major: History and Political Science

Hometown: Teaneck, New Jersey

How and/or why did you choose your major?

When I was in high school, I took AP History and United States Government and had the best teacher, Dr. Katz, for both. He was a remarkable teacher, and I felt that there needed to be more good history teachers like him, and while I don’t know if I will ever be as good as he is, I plan on trying.

What are you involved in on campus/what are some of your hobbies?

I watch a lot of TV and movies. I also used to be the financial chair for Rutgers Hillel, and now I serve as the Campus Communications Coordinator for AIPAC at Rutgers. I also read lots and lots of comics. Like lots.

What are your plans after you graduate Rutgers?

I have narrowed it slightly. I will either pursue a Master’s Degree in Education to become a teacher, most likely at the high school level. Alternatively, I will pursue a Master’s Degree in Library Science and work in an archive or library. I did that this past summer and it was super fun. However, since I am notoriously bad at making decisions, I might end up doing something random like deep sea diving for pearls or something.

If you could have any superpower what would it be?

I have actually put way too much thought into this. It would be the ability to absorb, manipulate, and redirect energy. That way, I could be practically invulnerable due to the absorption of kinetic energy of any projectiles, and offensively I could have a solid variety of capabilities as well as the ability to fly. As you might be able to tell, I read lots of comics.

If someone were to make a movie about your life, who would you want to play the lead role?

Graham Chapman, preferably before he died. I love him, he’s pretty much my favorite member of Monty Python. He played a wicked King Arthur in Holy Grail and Brian in Life of Brian.

A Senior at Rutgers University double majoring in Political Science and Economics who loves books, Broadway, and petting dogs.
