What are you involved in at Rutgers?

Her Campus, Gamma Phi Beta Sorority

How did you get involved in greek life?

Coming to Rutgers, I really had no idea what a sorority was. It wasn’t until my roommate told me about a “Meet the Sisters” event that I decided to try it out. After leaving my first Meet the Sisters, I knew I wanted to Rush that upcoming spring. I didn’t have any sisters or a huge group of girlfriends growing up, so the idea of being a part of a big sisterhood is what really made me want to join a sorority. It was probably the best decision I’ve made in my college career so far. :)

Would you recommend that other people join greek life?

Greek life isn’t for everybody and that’s completely understandable! If you’re the type of person looking for a group of fun, genuine and outgoing girls then, I’d say join a sorority! Finding my home at Gamma Phi Beta has been one of the most rewarding experiences. There’s always something to do or someone to talk to no matter the situation. The girls in your sorority are going to be your friends for life, not just for four years.

What’s the biggest tip for people going through recruitment?

The most important thing to remember when going through recruitment is to BE YOURSELF. Don’t act the way you think a particular sorority would want you to because if they want you, they should want you for you! By being yourself you’re going to find the girls that you truly belong with.

What do you like to do in your free time?

Hang out with girls in my sorority of course :), and watch sci-fi/ horror movies and tv shows. I love to eat, of course, but I try not to contain my choices to Brower, so I’m always out and about in New Brunswick or Piscataway. Other than that you, can catch me on Buzzfeed and Her Campus reading articles and taking quizzes!

What’s your favorite thing about Rutgers?

Hate to beat a dead horse, but my sorority is definitely my favorite thing about Rutgers. I’ve found the most amazing, supportive girls and I really couldn’t imagine my college experience without them. So thank you Rutgers for bringing me to them!!!

If you could have any superpower what would it be?

The ability to control time for sure! Is that a power? (I guess a time machine would work too.) I just always find myself needing more time or wishing I could do something differently so that would just be the most helpful thing in the world!
