  • Substitute Makeup Products. For the drugstore, the makeup can be pretty pricey. Sure, you’re not paying Sephora or Ulta prices, but hearing the cashier say “That’ll be $21.50” with only a lipstick and blush in front of you still makes you feel a little guilty. A good tip in that scenario is to only buy the lipstick and use it as your blush. Even if you’re buying a bold red, lightly tapping it on your cheeks will give you a natural flush of color. It makes for a fresh, dewy look if that’s your thing. You can do the same with browns, using them as a cream contour.

  • Labels are just names. You can use different colored eyeshadows as a highlighter, contour, eyebrow powder, eyeliner, bronzer, and so much more! Just make sure the finish of the eyeshadow matches what you are looking for (matte contour or a pearlescent highlight).

  • Save your money for skin products. When deciding when to splurge or save on a product, splurge on products that you put all over your face like foundation, concealer, and skincare products. Then you can save on items such as lipsticks, eyeshadows, liners, highlighters, and more!

  • Remember you have other options! There are many makeup brands now available in the market, which benefits you the customer! Some brands are committed to affordable prices, and that may mean they don’t sell at drugstores. Places such as e.l.f., nyx, and colourpop have affordable makeup products with great quality!
