21 Reasons Your Roommate is Actually Your Soulmate

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Rutgers chapter.

Roommates are tricky. Some are horror stories while others, like myself, get blessed. If you got as lucky as I did, chances are that at least some of these reasons apply to your relationship.

  1. She’ll go on 11 PM ice cream runs with you.
  2. She sits and listens to all your sob stories.
  3. She puts up with you during mother nature’s visits—even when syncing makes being in the same vicinity hell.
  4. She listens to your Taylor Swift playlist even when she hates it.
  5. But then she introduces you to “real music” aka her jams (which really aren’t so bad).
  6. She’ll go to the dining hall with you for the sole purpose that you’re hungry.
  7. She compliments you on your shit days.
  8. Anybody you hate, she hates too.
  9. And boys, you don’t wanna f*** with her girl.
  10. There is always a code of honesty in all situations.
  11. She’s always trying to push you to be your best.
  12. But she showers you with love & support when you’re at your worst.
  13. She’s the first person you call when you see a puppy or cute boy, whichever suits your fancy.
  14. Silence between you two is never awkward.
  15. She goes out with you even when every part of her wants to just lay in bed.
  16. You sit and watch documentaries because you don’t mind being lame together.
  17. And then one of you will make the other one watch a rom-com because it’s a necessity.
  18. She is your go-to on a day when your tears could supply a fountain.
  19. Your family loves her, almost more than they love you.
  20. She quotes Friends with you like its her job.
  21. If you could go back in time and choose again, you would still choose each other. Thats how you know it’s real.
