Tips To Avoid Getting Sick This Semester

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Rochester chapter.

Although flu season may be over, the common cold seems to be taking over campus. As a self-proclaimed germophobe here are some of my personal tips to prevent sickness!

1. Wash Your Hands- This is the number one way to fight off colds, so wash your hands as often as you can to get rid of any germs you may have come in contact with.

2. Stay Hydrated- It’s recommended that we drink about half a gallon of water a day to keep our bodies operating at their best! Carrying around a reusable water bottle around campus is an easy way to get your daily water intake!

3. Immune Boost- I love drinking different kinds of teas to give my body extra vitamins and minerals. Green tea is notorious for having tons of antioxidants but any kind of herbal tea will do the trick!

4. Vitamin C- The classic way to fight off a cold is with vitamin C. You can do this by drinking orange juice or with various supplements like Emergen-C.

5. Rest Up- Sleep deprivation weakens your immune system and makes you more susceptible to getting sick! Even though you may be busy make sure you get a proper amount of sleep!
