Inspirational Quotes for Those Not-So-Great College Moments

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Rochester chapter.

College is full of stressful moments. There are basically a bunch of students taking classes, desperately trying not to fail as they struggle to find the best path for their lives. Sometimes we have those days where we look at college like  Because college is literally playing one big joke on us and we are all going to turn out just fine right? But until then, here are some quotes to get you through some of your moments.

1. For those days when you cannot get yourself out of bed in the morning, especially when it feels like you literally just went to bed before your clock rang, read this quote.

“If you want to make your dreams come true, get out of bed, because the secret to getting ahead is getting started.” – J.M. Powers and Mark Twain

2. When you feel like people are underestimating you and attempting to hold you back, here’s your quote of confidence:

“An underestimated individual is a dangerous individual. When people underestimate you, don’t be down. Stand up and let them know they’re wrong.”  –Anonymous

3. When you get back the test you spent hours studying for and missed the chance to hang out with your friends, only to find you didn’t do so well:

“Just because the past didn’t turn out like you wanted it too, doesn’t mean the future cannot be better than you imagined.”

4. When you are stressing out over a final exam that you have to get at least a B on to pass the class, take a deep breath and read this quote.

“Believe you can and you’re halfway there; so trust yourself, because you know more than you think you do.”  –Dr. Spock and Theodore Roosevelt.

5. When you are assigned to a group project and you find that there are people who won’t do their part:

“It is literally true that the quickest way you can succeed is by helping others to succeed.” –Napoleon Hill

6. When you are having a disagreement with your roommate over leftover food, invasion of privacy, etc., or you feel like you both just cannot get along:

“Raise your words, not your voice. It is rain that grows flowers, not thunder.” —Rumi

And if all else fails, “Silence is never more golden than when a quarrel is brewing.” —Clifford Adams

7. When you’re having a bad day, because let’s face it, we are human. We have those days when we feel isolated, when we give up on ourselves, or when we can no longer see the dreams that we have been looking forward to. And for that, here’s 3 quotes:

“The struggle you are in today is developing the strength you need for tomorrow.” -Robert Tew

“Someday everything will make perfect sense, so for now, laugh at the confusion, smile through the tears and keep reminding yourself that everything happens for a reason.” – John Mayer

“One of the happiest moments in life is when you find the courage to let go of what you cannot change.” -Anonymous

8. When you reach Graduation Day:

“You may not always have a comfortable life and you will not always be able to solve all of the world’s problems at once, but don’t ever underestimate the importance you can have, because history has shown us that courage can be contagious, and hope can take on a life of its own.” – Michelle Obama

But do not worry. You’ll find your place eventually, and every problem will pass. Do not drop out of college because you failed a test or a class. Keep going. It’s not a lifelong experience, so try to make the best of it. Keep working hard and believing in yourself every step of the way. Do not forget who you are for one moment or try to change yourself, because you don’t want to be unhappy with life. Choose a major that is right for you, and if you don’t have the perfect fit, choose the classes that will give you the right fit. Don’t worry, you’ve got this, and you’ll end up right where you are meant to be.

Best of Luck!
