On November 2, Kim Kardashian called off her marriage to Kris Humphries after 72 blessed days of matrimony together. Some people were surprised, some people declared they knew the entire thing was a scam all along, and some people just downright didn’t care. Whether you’re from one of the above camps or not, one thing stands in absolute fact: the 2 part, 4 hour wedding special garnered 5 million viewers. You might not give a damn about Kim and the rest of her family, but it looks like the rest of the country pathetically does.
So now we have to ask the question of why? What is it about the Kardashian family that has made their original television series last for 6 seasons and produced three different spin-off shows (Kourtney & Khloe Take Miami, Kourtney & Kim Take New York, and Khloe & Lamar)? The family certainly had a decent amount of fame surrounding them before these shows were produced: Bruce Jenner was a decathlon gold medalist in 1976 and Kim is best known for being Paris Hilton’s bff before they had a public “falling out” in the media. Back before the three oldest sisters (and Kris Jenner, the mother who seems to think she’s a fourth sibling) graced the cover of every magazine to exist, the family was tolerable. Now, they’re outright obnoxious.
Kendall and Kylie Jenner, the two youngest Kardashian spawns, are modeling swimwear and lingerie at the ages of 13 and 16. Kendall just celebrated her sweet sixteen and got what any other girl would: a brand new Range Rover and Louboutins. I’m pretty sure I received a gift about 1/100th the price of both those put together. Maybe Kim put some of the money she made with her wedding special and marriage towards those Louboutins for her sister. And then went out and bought herself a pair.
Every week it seems like there’s a new development in the Kardashian world to make headlines. Kris Jenner reveals (shocking!) new secrets about her friendship with OJ Simpson’s wife, Khloe is not actually a biological sister (I made that one up, but it’s probably true so go with it), and now Kourtney is pregnant with her second child! HOORAY! It’s so cool of her to promote having children with someone she’s not married to. I hope every young girl in America takes note of that decision and does the same!! Screw marriage! Because who doesn’t want to be like a Kardashian?
