This Week’s Eye Candy: Shameer Horton

For this week’s campus cutie we didn’t have to search long to find a guy worthy of the title. 

Fix your eyes on Trenton-born model/entrepreneur Shameer Horton and take a long, indulgent look. Yes, we’re giving you permission to stare! While the fall semester is just starting to heat up, we head over to Shameer to check out what’s happening with this hardworking stunner.  

A Man About His Business

Shameer has always been intrigued by the fashion world and says that he was fifteen when he officially decided to venture into launching his own clothing line. His dad being a major influence in his life growing up, it was only natural for Shameer to follow in his old man’s footsteps of working in fashion.

Model Behavior
While over in Japan to promote his clothing line this past summer, Shameer hit his stride on the modeling side of things. A few photo-shoots and offers by designers later, Shameer is now even considering modeling professionally. We say, go for it. You definitely have the, uh, whole package.

The Perfect Date
Shameer says he steers clear of movie dates where conversation is limited and that he prefers to take his girl to get a small bite to eat, and then finish with a stroll in the park, where he can get to know a girl. “Maybe even a nice drive on a nice day, just to talk. That’s a date; getting to know a person, not staring at a screen.” Amen!

Sweet Gesture
“We [him and his ex-girlfriend] had just recently broken up. She was my first love, and then I found out she was with another guy.” But instead of getting jealous like other (normal) guys would he stood by and supported their blossoming relationship. “Then one day I find out that the guy played her, he was supposed to go to prom with her, didn’t show up, broke up with her, and left her for another girl.” So Shameer decided to play Prince Charming and came to his ex’s rescue. “Mother’s day was coming up so I sent her mom flowers and along with her mom’s flowers I sent my ex-girlfriend her favorite flowers and a [sympathetic] note.”

All You Single Ladies!
Shameer is quick to reveal that he is “very!” single through rambunctious laughter. “I’ve been single for about two years now.” My gosh, how? “I’ve dated. I’ve tried, but it doesn’t end well. I have a lot to offer a female and if I’m going to deal with a female she has to have just as much to offer me.” Though he isn’t particularly tied down at the moment, Shameer admits that he isn’t going to focus on chasing after the ladies this semester. “If I’m supposed to be with a female she’ll come to me. Everybody’s been telling me ‘stop looking and wait’ and that’s what I’ve been doing.”

She’s All That
Shameer dishes on what he’s looking for in a girl: “Honestly, everybody looks for looks.” Don’t tell me you’re that superficial? “It’s not the first thing I look for. When I’m with a female she has to give good conversation. If I’m trying to talk to you about what I’m trying to do, this, this, and that, and you telling me ‘yo, I be hanging with my girls’…I don’t want to hear that. Tell me your goals.”
