The 10 Best Things About Being in an A Capella Group

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Richmond chapter.

1.  You have people that you don’t mind staying up with until 4am when auditions roll around.

Auditions are no small feat, but being with some of your favorite people makes it much more manageable.

2.  You’re always up to date with the latest music.

ESPECIALLY if it has a capella potential.

3.  Parties turn into giant karaoke nights.

4.  They’ll never make fun of a strange facial expression you make because they’ve seen them all in rehearsal.

Let’s face it, there are no weirder facial expression than the ones you make while trying to hit a high note or sing weird a capella vowels.

5.  They know you’re a singer…not a dancer.

…but have high expectations for your dance moves anyway.

6.  They may fight you for solos but you know they’ll always have your back.

7.  If you’re sick, you know who to go for any variety of throat medicine.

“What do you need?  Cough drops?  Herbal Tea?  Throat Coat?  Yeah, I have it all right here in my backpack.”

8.  You have people to stay in with when you can’t go out before a performance.

They understand why it’s important that you stay in and rest your vocal chords instead of screaming all night at the club.

9.  They won’t shush you when you sing along to the radio.

…they’ll sing too!

10.  They’re a second family.

No matter what, they’ve got your back.
